Early epiphanies with Cezanne led to a discovery of other 19th century masters like Manet and Delacroix, and they in turn threw me back to the 16th century. I soon fell in love with the Italian Renaissance. The meeting of the sensual, the dreamlike, and the “real” in artists like Titian and Raphael opened my eyes to a realm of aesthetic possibilities.
